Healthy Moves is improving children’s health - step by step.
It is a community-wide approach to enhancing the social, economic and environmental health and well being of children that attend Warrnambool schools.
In response, this also has a positive impact on the parents, teachers and support staff at Warrnambool schools and, as such, the wider Warrnambool community.
It is a program unique to Victoria that has been enthusiastically embraced by the people of Warrnambool.
It is fun, educational and successful - up to 70 per cent of the city’s primary school population taking part in its specific activities. Check out each schools page on the toolbar.
Lets get Safely to School Day 24nd of May
As our results come in we will display on the website so far: St Josephs Primary School 92%, Warrnambool West 52%, Our Ladies Help of Christians 70%, St Johns 87%, Allansford 89%, East Warrnambool 68% and Merrivale 87%
Warrnambool motorists are being urged to sound their vehicle’s horn before exiting driveways The State Government has launched a new driveway safety campaign ‘just because you can’t see me, doesn’t mean I’m not here’ aiming to reduce the number of tragic motor vehicle accidents involving young children outside the family home.
If every driver in Warrnambool honked thier horn in the drive as part of their every-day driving, it will make a real difference to children walking or cycling on the footpath.
"Just the simple act of honking a horn can give a child or family about to cross a driveway the time to stop and avoid an accident and potentially save a life.”
TERM 2 COMPETITION

- each school completes hands up surveys (surveying how students travel to school) this is entered onto the HEALTHY MOVES website. The TALLY below is a cumulative display of the percentage of students walking, cycling or catching the bus to school (cumulative meaning adding up each month) so if you want your school to stay on top you need to take up walking, cycling and bus travel to school. This information is shared with Ride2School which is a state program run by Bicycle Network- visit ride2school.com.au.
